A Little Holiday Magic at Ancich Park 🎅🐾

If you were anywhere near Ancich Park last weekend, you may have noticed something extra festive going on. Every year in Gig Harbor, there’s a great tradition of free photos with Santa, and this year the event found a new home at Ancich Park.

In the past, the photos were held at Donkey Creek Park. I remember standing in line last year in the rain, feet slowly sinking into the muddy lawn while trying to keep everyone dry and smiling. This year was a big upgrade. Not only did we luck out with no rain, but even if it had been pouring, Ancich Park would’ve handled it beautifully — no mud, no soggy shoes.

What makes this event even better is that it’s more than just a quick photo with Santa. While you wait in line, there are several holiday-themed backdrops set up where kids (and adults) can pose and play. By the time you leave, you end up with a whole collection of festive photos, not just one.

This year, we brought my kids — and of course our dog, Koa, for his annual photo with Santa. I think this was his third or fourth year doing it, and somehow Santa never seems surprised when a dog hops into the picture. The event is incredibly pet-friendly, with treats for both humans and dogs, and they even paired it with a food drive, giving everyone a chance to give back while enjoying the fun.

And if you missed it last weekend, you’re in luck — photos with Santa are happening again this weekend, December 20th and 21st, from 12:00–2:30 PM. It’s a great opportunity to swing by, snap some photos, and soak in a little more holiday cheer.

These kinds of small, thoughtful community events are exactly what make Gig Harbor such a special place to live. They bring people together, support good causes, and create memories you look forward to every year — rain or shine.
